Foundations support Marienlyst Castle
After many years of focused work, the group around Marienlyst Castle has now succeeded in reaching a crucial milestone.
The financing for the interior renovation of Marienlyst Castle is in place.
This means that we are facing a new and exciting phase in the castle's long history.
The Aage and Johanne Louis-Hansen Foundation has announced a donation of DKK 10.9 million, and the Augustinus Foundation has donated DKK 5.2 million. This means that the necessary DKK 16.1 million has been secured.
The funds will enable Marienlyst Castle to be renovated so that the building once again appears authentic and ready to accommodate a kitchen, café, exhibitions and events. The castle can then be used as a vibrant place with culture, activities and community.
The renovation does not yet include the full, long-term plan with a new exhibition building and gardens. However, it will be possible to open the palace to the public in a more limited, but beautiful and meaningful form.
We have therefore requested the Municipality of Helsingør to initiate negotiations on the next steps so that work can begin at the beginning of next year.
Thank you to everyone who has believed in the project - even during the difficult times.
Without your persistence and support, this would not have been possible.
We look forward to welcoming the public to Marienlyst Castle and starting a new chapter in the place's history.
