With views of the Øresund and roots in history, Marienlyst Castle stands – a former royal pleasure palace, which today forms the setting for social initiatives and communities.
Here, history meets today's opportunities. And we have great visions.
Marienlyst Castle is not just a historical site, but also a social enterprise where people of all ages get the opportunity to develop in practice, in community, and with purpose.
Here, we create genuine work communities where young people and adults can clarify their direction, participate in education or work at the castle, and find new paths in life.
For some, it's the beginning of an education or a job.
For others, it's a place to regain rhythm, job satisfaction, and belief in their own abilities.
And for the youngest – local youths from 15 years old – it's their first encounter with working life, where they experience that their efforts matter.
Everything unfolds within the castle's vibrant operational environment in the kitchen and café, events, service and crafts, exhibition and shop, as well as storytelling and dissemination.
Here, everyone participates in the daily operations and contributes to the experiences guests encounter at the castle.
Common to all is the feeling of belonging – and sensing that every effort makes the place and the community a little stronger.
A CASTLE WITH MANY POSSIBILITIES
A place to start – or start over
Marienlyst Castle is a place where people can use their skills, discover new potential, and find direction – in practice and in community.
We offer a range of programs for young people and adults who need clarification, support, or a new footing in relation to education and working life.
Everything takes place within the castle's living framework, where real tasks and communities form the basis for development, learning, and well-being.
There is room for diversity here – and for taking the next step, regardless of where you start.
Part-time jobs for young people from 15 years old
Marienlyst Castle offers paid part-time jobs where young people gain their first experience with working life.
Here, they learn to take responsibility, collaborate, provide good service, and understand the value of their contributions.
For many, it becomes the beginning of a new chapter where self-confidence and the joy of success grow with the tasks.
Clarity-seeking programs
For young people and adults who need to find direction, courage, or new energy in relation to education or working life.
Here, participants get the opportunity to try their hand at real tasks, discover what they can do, and what they thrive with – in close collaboration with municipalities, schools, businesses, and business mentors.
We offer meaningful tasks in the castle's authentic settings, professional and social training, as well as support from mentors with pedagogical experience.

Specially Organized Youth Education (STU)
A practice-oriented educational program for young people between 16 and 25 years old, who learn best through concrete tasks and clear frameworks.
The young people participate in the daily operation of the castle – in the café, kitchen, shop, garden, as well as with tasks within events, communication, and marketing – where learning and responsibility go hand in hand.
Here, they receive support to develop professional, social, and personal competencies at their own pace.
The goal is to provide young people with experiences that strengthen their belief in their own abilities and pave the way towards education, employment, and an independent adult life.

Protected employment
A meaningful work community with support and development.
For adults with significant functional impairments who cannot work under ordinary conditions, we offer a workday with peace, structure, and meaning.
Here, there is room for diversity and time for immersion – with a focus on well-being, community, and small steps forward, without demands for pace or production targets.
Programs for those affected by illness and citizens returning to work or seeking new direction
When life has been on pause, Marienlyst Castle can be a safe place to start again.
Here, people affected by illness or stress get the opportunity to regain job satisfaction, rhythm, and belief in their own abilities.
We offer a practical and meaningful program within an appreciative community, where the pace is adapted to the individual, and where there is room for both vulnerability and potential.
The program can be individually adapted and used as a clarification program, where we, in close dialogue, prepare written documentation of work capacity and progression, or a bridging program for citizens granted a flex-job who need support in finding their way to a new job.
A PLACE WITH RESPONSIBILITY, COMMUNITY, AND PURPOSE
At Marienlyst Castle, we believe that everyone has something to contribute – and that people grow when they experience trust, responsibility, and community.
We build on what each individual can do, and slowly but surely build further from there.
There is room for diversity here and time to celebrate the small steps that make a big difference.
We believe that responsibility creates pride when one feels that their efforts matter.
That community makes us stronger because we work together and help each other forward.
And that meaning arises when work gains value – for the individual, for the place, and for the community around us.
A SUSTAINABLE BALANCE
Marienlyst Castle operates as a social enterprise where learning, working life, and community merge.
Income from the café, shop, events, and exhibitions is used to develop and run activities that both create experiences for our guests and new opportunities for those who are part of the castle's daily life.
We collaborate with municipalities, businesses, educational institutions, and foundations that wish to contribute to creating real change through action.
An important part of the work is the paid part-time jobs for young people, where the next generation gets the opportunity to gain experience, responsibility, and success – in a safe and professional environment.
The goal is a sustainable community where responsibility, consideration, and collaboration are the driving force – and where every effort contributes to both people and the place thriving and developing.
A LIVING CASTLE
Marienlyst Castle is much more than a historical site.
It is a business, a community, and a place where people can unfold and find new direction.
Here, cultural heritage and working life meet in a daily routine where social responsibility and economic sustainability are part of daily practice.
