For the reopening of Marienlyst Castle, we are looking for a trained chef who wants to help build and shape the kitchen in Kongens Køkken (The King's Kitchen) from the beginning.

We have ambitions for the quality in the kitchen – and we are looking for you who want to help build a kitchen that can handle daily operations and at the same time deliver great culinary experiences for events, meetings, and parties at the castle.

We work with quality ingredients and food made from scratch, and we take pride in quality, taste, and craftsmanship in the kitchen.

It is therefore a unique opportunity to help build a new kitchen and make your mark on the work from the start.

We value a good atmosphere in the kitchen, cooperation, and job satisfaction, even when the pace is high.

About the job

In Kongens Køkken, we work with food made from scratch and quality ingredients inspired by the seasons and the castle's history.

We want guests to be able to taste history, whether they come for brunch or lunch, enjoy homemade cake and coffee, participate in meetings and conferences, or celebrate special occasions with menus for smaller and larger parties.

Kongens Køkken will become a lively focal point at the castle, where guests can enjoy breakfast, brunch, and lunch – a good cup of coffee, homemade cake, a tapas board, and a glass of wine – and where we also prepare food for meetings, events, and parties.

The work in the kitchen is closely linked to life at the castle. At times, there will also be situations where you lend a hand with serving at events when the pace requires it.

In Kongens Køkken, we work in a small team where hosts and service staff are also trained in the kitchen. Therefore, it is important that you thrive in a kitchen where people help each other and tackle tasks together.

We are looking for you who

  • are a trained chef
  • can work à la carte and handle orders quickly
  • work with quality ingredients and take pride in quality and taste
  • work quickly, structured, and with an overview
  • thrive in a clean and well-organized kitchen
  • take pride in the highest food safety rating
  • contribute to a good atmosphere and a good working environment

We offer

  • a brand new production kitchen with modern equipment
  • a workplace in the historic and beautiful setting of Marienlyst Castle
  • the opportunity to help shape Kongens Køkken from the start
  • a position of approx. 30–37 hours per week
  • work primarily during the day from 8 AM to 3 PM (including weekends)
  • a few evening shifts at times, typically until approx. 8 PM
  • salary according to qualifications

Start April/May.

Do you want to be a part of this?

If you would like to become part of the team at Marienlyst Castle, we would love to hear from you.

Marienlyst Castle has roots dating back to the 16th century, when Frederik II established the site as a pleasure retreat near Kronborg. The current castle was built in 1759–63 by the French court architect Nicolas-Henri Jardin.

After a careful renovation, the castle will reopen in spring 2026 as a vibrant place with Kongens Køkken, the exhibition Paradis til alle tider (Paradise for All Times), and a varied program of events.
